Types of Teaching Jobs
The best way to find employment is to visit Ayutthaya in person.
It is suggested to get multiple resumes, teaching certificates
and copies of degrees acquired. However, jobs are also available
without valid credentials but with a tag of ‘illegal employment’
attached to it. In Ayutthaya, it is always conducive to ask
around for the perfect match in terms of skills, qualifications,
and student-age preferences.
It is important to avoid excessive workload initially. In order
to start on a relaxed note, a college job is a better option
compared to language schools. A college job offers you more time
for reflection and lesson planning.
A brand new private language school like Zenith offers a
contract of 24 hours of teaching per week from Monday to Friday.
The candidate is expected to teach students of all ages and
abilities.
Teachers are responsible for making lesson plans for the levels
they will be teaching, these will be given to the Thai
co-teacher they will be working with each week. There are
limited resources at the schools and the internet can be a bit
slow or intermittent so it is critical that the teachers
selected for this program are creative and 'minimalist' in their
approaches to making their classes fun and effective. The Thai
co-teacher rarely take an active role in leading the class.
Usually they just sit at the back of the classroom and don't get
involved in the lesson, hopefully you'll get one that becomes a
little more involved.
